Im excited that the one category where I have no idea is at the end of the night) Should Be - 12 Years a Slave or Her Best Director - Alfonso Cuaron, Gravity Should Be - Steve McQueen, 12 Years a Slave Best Actor - Matthew McConaughey, Dallas Buyers Club Should Be - Bruce Dern or Chiwetel Ejiofer Best Actress - Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine Should Be - Amy Adams, American Hustle Best Supporting Actor - Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club Should Be - Bradley Cooper, American Hustle (a fantastic lineup, but the more I watch American Hustle, the more I want the movie to be more like whatever Bradley Cooper is doing) Best Supporting Actress - Lupita Nyongo, 12 Years a Slave (not b/c Jennifer Lawrence just won last year; she could totally win again this year because her role is so strong. I just think voters want to give 12 Years a Slave something major, and Patsy is a movie unto herself) Should Be - Lupita Nyongo Best Original Screenplay - American Hustle (b/c they want to give David O. Russell something. Even if the Hollywood Foreign Press and the Writers Guild of America went with Spike Jonze, I think Academy voters are just different beasts). Should Be - Nebraska Best Adapted Screenplay - 12 Years a Slave Should Be - Before Midnight Best Original Score - Gravity Should Be - Her Best Original Song - Let It Go, Frozen Should Be - Happy, Despicable Me 2 Best Foreign-Language Film - The Great Beauty Should Be - no idea, havent seen any of these, so I really dont know how likely The Great Beauty will win. Best Animated Film - Frozen Should Be - no idea, havent seen one of them. Best Documentary - 20 Feet from Stardom Should Be - havent seen any of them; kinda scared to watch The Act of Killing. Best Cinematography - Gravity Should Be - Inside Llewyn Davis Best Film Editing - Captain Phillips (b/c Most Editing usually wins. Gravity could absolutely win this b/c it looks likely to win every tech category, but I thought the same thing about Hugo and what ended up winning Best Film Editing that year? The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.) Should Be - 12 Years a Slave Best Art Direction - The Great Gatsby Should Be - Her (one of the slamdunk sure things of the night SHOULD BE Her for Best Art Direction.
