Final day of camp....another great sensory activity. ...homemade slime! The kids really enjoyed this activity...once the ingredients are incorporated the slime becomes a great conductor for experimentation. The girls had a slime race and others had fun stretching it out to see how thin they could get it before it would break. This was also a great opportunity to show kids how mixing primary colors can make secondary colors. Here is recipe: 1 bottle Elmers glue. 1/4c. Sta-flow liquid starch. Optional add-ins...food coloring and glitter. (IMPORTANT.....do not substitute the glue or starch with generics. ...we tried several recipes over the summer with lots of failures) dump the entire bottle of glue into a small plastic bowl. Add the starch, food coloring, and glitter. Mix until ingredients start to incorporate. It will still be slimy with lots of liquid but once a lump starts to form, start working it with your hands (might want to use gloves at first if using food coloring to prevent your hands from staining). Work the lump, squeezing between hands until it become smooth....it will be stringy and sticky at first...keep at it..it will turn into slime in about 10-15 mins. Store slime in ziplock bags
