Finished modelling the big coat of arms today! Over the weekend I made two stars out of Plasticine - one for the big coat of arms and one for the small one, and made a plaster mould from the larger one. I used a technique I first saw on a trip to the Wedgewood pottery when I was at art college in Stoke on Trent. They push clay into small plaster moulds called sprig moulds to make the white figures on the blue Jasper Ware pottery. I did the same thing on a larger scale to make the stags and stars on the shield.
