Firsts sizzle but Seconds stay in the cold. BPCC firsts continued there all conquering run with a 10 wicket victory at Welton & Brough placing them fourth in the league but with only 23 points covering the 2nd 3rd and 4th clubs. Jacob Green had a fine all round game picking up 4 wickets and a half century ably supported by Jonny Pollick with the ball and Tom Atkinson with the bat. With the top clubs to play it is in the hands of the Firsts to really push for promotion as the last third of the season starts. The seconds suffered a heavy defeat to a handy Heworth side. Fielding first BPCC were lucky to get away with containing Heworth to 225-5 on a bouncy Percy strip. It was always enough though for a side lacking in confidence with nobody making runs at all at the moment. 118 all out was just about a fair reflection on the teams capability at the moment although Martin Pears with 25 did his best to delay the inevitable. Its difficult with an ever changing team as the firsts have the pick of the younger players but relegation is not a foregone conclusion as all the teams battling with Percy are still to play. Confidence will pick up and the points will come.
