The stretch of beach that runs from Kabeljouws to Gamtoos River Mouth is excellent for cob, garrick, steenbras, baardman. This time of the year be sure to get a few mullet from the nearby Kabeljouws lagoon and cast these mullet head as far as you can over the lip that leaves you in deeper water. Bronzies are taken regularly together with the odd Zambi, duskies, elephant-fish, giant raggies, blue rays, duckbills and diamond rays. Chokka pilchard combinations also work very well and as usual make sure that your bait is fresh and neatly presented. Rapalas with the leaded weights for casting also work well if you can find a nice bank where the water works well. To the right of the Kabeljouws main beach where the surf meets the rocks is also an excellent area to catch edibles such as baardman and cob. This area is easy accesible with a parking area literally 10 metres from the fishing spot. I have had excellent catches here at sunrise and sunset and its also very safe to fish here at night time. Further to the right of this area where you find plenty of surfers at The Point is two rocks thats called pampoen rocks. You will notice them from their flat structure and again this area lets you get in nice and deep - Make sure you dont put your 5 ounch sinker through a surfer as they can get quite nasty at times. Apart from this you can also fish the area to the right of JBays main beach where you will encounter raggies and duskies and the odd cob and elf. Economy preventing you from a well-deserved holiday?
