Follow the prescribed recipe: Have you ever made a cake, pie, or cookies? Imagine what it would taste like with the sugar or yeast left out. What if we substitute the sugar with salt, it would be good for nothing, just throw it in the trash. Hebrews 4:1-2 1. Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Mixed: • To unite • Mix together • Caused the several parts to combine into an organic structure, which is the body. • To unite one thing to another Many people read their bibles; some study the bible, many go to church services and listen to sermons after sermon. Some even go to bible study and Sunday school or some other educational program offered in the church. We have learned that faith comes by hearing the word of God, (Romans 10:17). James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. So we see in the book of James that there is another ingredient needed for the manifestation of our faith to become reality, “A corresponding action that line up with our faith”. James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. To complete the recipe for faith; you must hear, believe, and put into actions. Naaman was told to dip himself in the water seven times, and he would be healed of his leprosy. 2 Kings 5:14 Then he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, as the man of God had said, and his flesh was restored like that of a little child, and he was clean. Action: go dip seven times John 9:6-7 6. When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, 7. And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing. The blind man; heard, believed and took actions.
