Fondy competes at Deforest The Fond du Lac girls swim team opened its schedule Saturday in a meet at Deforest, where each event was split into three heat divisions — Red, White and Blue — with blue being the fastest. The Cardinals overall took fifth out of five in the blue heat, fourth in the white and fifth in the red. Junior Coutney Stubbe had Fond du Lac’s top performances, taking second in the 100 freestyle in 57.86 seconds in a neck-and-neck race, and she tied for third in the 50 free. Coach Glen McBride said he was particularly pleased with the perfmormances from his freshmen, who were competing in their first high school meet. Kallie Behling took fifth in the blue heat of the 200 individual medley, and was fifth in the 100 butterfly. Fellow freshman Taryn Jaroch was third in the 100 free white heat. Both freshmen had times that were well better than needed to earn a varsity letter, as was Kaitlyn Munger’s time in the 500 free. Fond du Lac has its first home meet Tuesday against DePere at 5:30 p.m.
