For Immediate Press Release “Competing US$300K prize among 2100 Green contestant teams worldwide!!” “Acer Incredible Green Contest” Award Ceremony & 2nd Contest (2013-2014) Launching Press Conference “Competing US$300K prize among 2100 contestant teams worldwide!!” The highest prize US$60,000 has been won by the team from Taiwan, NationalTaiwanUniversity and be presented by the ACER Foundation in the “ACER Incredible Green Contest” Award Ceremony on 5 June in COMPUTEX TAIPEI, the largest Computer Show in Asia Pacific region. The Contest sponsored by the ACER Foundation for promoting green life and greener world by utilizing ICT technology. To encourage the young talented students to research and stimulate ideas for innovative green design and invention toward green life, i.e. energy saving, green commerce, environment protection, green technology and so forth. The total contest prize is over US$300,000 which is the highest prize among similar theme contests. The Contest Final was held on 2 June by the Judges Committee, the judge members include the Former Executive Secretary General of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Mr. Yvo De Boer, the Former President of World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Mr. Bjorn Stigson, and judges in Taiwan, Mr. Shi Jei-Min, President of ITRI, Mr. Yancey Hai, Chairman of Delta Electronics, John Hsuan, Vice Chairman Emeritus of UMC. The final winners are list as below; 1st prize US$60,000 – National Taiwan University, Taiwan : “Ecobreeze” by Wen-Fu, Luo; Chun-Lin, Liu; Fu-Min, Fang 2nd Prize US$35,000 – Harvard University, USA. :“The Bicyclean” by Rachel Diane, Field – Zhejiang University, China. : “Wiser Ocean Oil Spill Cleaner” by Hao-fei, Wang,Tuo, Wang; Wei-Lu, Luo; Xiao,Luo 3rd Prize US$20,000 – National Taiwan University, Taiwan : “Dbag” by Yu-Wen, Lai; Cheng-Yuan,Yen; Ro-Hsuan, Hwang; Man-Wei, Huang; Man-Ning, Hsu – FON University, Macedonia. : “Climate for Children” by Bozhinoski, Darko – National Chenchi University, Taiwan. : “Treat & Tree” by Wen-Hao,Hsieh; Tzu-Lien, Chen; Chieh- Yu, Chan; I- Cheng, Huang; Han-Yu, Chan – National Taiwan University, Taiwan. : “The ICT Applied Plant Factory” by Ting-Yu, Liu; Ray-Fong, Wei; Tzu-Yuan, Lin During the Award Ceremony on 5 June, the President of PC Global, ACER Group, Ms. Tiffany Huang, presented the awards to the winners for their excellent works. The VIP, Chairman of Taiwan Sustainable Foundation Dr. Eugene Chien, the Former Minister of Environment Protection in Taiwan Gov. also given his speech to support the contest and encourage students. The 2nd ACER Incredible Green Contest for 2013-2014 also been kicked off at the ceremony. The ACER Group Chairman Mr. J.T Wang has been expressed his thanks to the support from all parties worldwide and committed ACER Group will keep supporting the 2nd contest and encourage further research works toward Green Life by utilizing the state of art in ICT.
