For all of you that are participating in the ice bucket challenge... Do you even know what youre doing it for? Or is it just for the lols and likes on Facebook? Ive watched several over the last few days and not ONE of them has explained the reasons behind it and all have failed to mention that they have donated or post the link to show others how to. So please tell me; WHATS THE POINT!? In short, ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a disease that first affects the nerve cells in the brain, closely followed by the spinal cord and then the muscles; meaning these people are slowly unable to use their muscles at all - their independence, gone. They become unable to walk, talk and even breathe on their own, and in the later stages most become fully paralysed. I cant help but think this is just another stupid social media thing and that no one is taking any of it seriously. Do some research. Raise awareness. Donate. Throwing a bucket of iced water over your head isnt going to do any of these things, so kinda defeats the object, right!?
