For many of you who followed the story of Truman, the dog that I lost when his owner died and was ultimately found, I thought you would be interested in reading Trumans owners obituary which includes Truman as a survivor.....showing just how much this special dog meant to his owner. Truman is living happily in California and I am quite certain a part of him will always miss his Dad, Gene Schechter. Rest in Peace, my friend.Gene Schechter 1939 - 2014 Gene Schechter, 75, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2014 in Liberty, New York. He grew up in Brooklyn and maintained a bi coastal residency in Santa Barbara and Livingston Manor NY for over 25 years. He was the President and owner of Data Command Ltd which was headquartered in New York. Upon leaving Data Command he founded Cardinal Construction which built homes in New Jersey, Connecticut and California. Gene had an unmatched passion for life and pursued his dreams: from trekking up to Kala Pattar above Base Camp Everest for his 65th birthday, getting his pilot’s license and flying under the George Washington bridge (of course thereby losing his license), owning a race horse farm in Kentucky with jockeys like Angel Cordero Jr. and Julie Krohn riding for him, tracking down Bengal tigers on elephant for that perfect photo, Skydiving on his 70th birthday and of course traveling to many countries for the history, food and culture.. He never had one bad day in his life and woke up every morning smiling and laughing. Gene will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, crazy sense of humor, tenacity to get things done and that Brooklyn accent. He was the first to help out a friend and sometimes even a stranger. Gene is survived by his brothers Andrew and Howard. Sons; Rob and Adam. Grandchildren; Amanda, Danny, Harry and Benjamin and his best friend and love of his life, Truman his dog. Funeral services and burial were held in Paramus New Jersey. Those that knew him can still hear his famous line Have a great day, I know I will! - See more at: independent/obits/2014/dec/16/gene-schechter/#sthash.oraNPkgx.dpuf
