Judge Vicki Cook has chosen not to seek re-election. The Division II Judgeship currently focuses on juvenile and family issues. “I have practiced law in Garland County for 32 years and have been involved with over 10,000 cases involving children and families. In addition to my legal work, I have been active with the Boys Scouts of America, YMCA Indian Guide and Indian Princess Programs, Big Brothers and Big Sisters and served as a coach for a variety of youth sports. Children and families have always been my highest priority and I believe the variety of my experiences make me well qualified for this important judgeship.” A 1981 graduate of the William F. Bowen School of Law, Crawford received a BA in Political Science from the University of Arkansas Little Rock. He is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association and past president of their Young Lawyers Section. He is also a member and past president of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association and the Garland County Bar Associations. He was recognized with the C.E. Ransick Award of Excellence, the Presidential Award of Excellence and the Frank C. Elcan II Leadership award from the ABA. He has received 7 Presidential Awards from ATLA and the William F. Bowen School of Law selected him as the first recipient of their Outstanding Alumnus award. In addition, he has provided legal services for the Arkansas Volunteers for the Elderly and has sponsored and mentored the Lake Hamilton Mock Trial Team. The Legal Network recently selected Crawford one of the Top Lawyers in Arkansas for 2013. An active member of the community, Crawford has been involved in the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years. He has received the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. He has worked with the YMCA Indian Guide and Indian Princess Programs, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Habitat for Humanity. A 23 year member of the Hot Springs Elks Lodge, Crawford has received the Distinguished Citizenship Award and been named Officer of the Year. He has been recognized by the Arkansas School for Math & Science for his participation in the Careers: Onward and Upward program, the Garland County United Way for his outstanding leadership and support in the community, and the American Legion for his proper treatment and retirement of American flags program. Working with the Hot Springs International Visitor Program Crawford was recognized for his contributions and discussions with international dignitaries to promote improved world relations. Crawford has been married for 33 years to Andrea and they are the parents of 3 children. Brandon and Blake practice law with their father in Hot Springs at the Crawford Law Firm. Their daughter, Emily, is a Junior at Lake Hamilton High School. They are members of Oaklawn United Methodist Church where he has served on the Board of Trustees and the Pastor Parish Committee, and is a regular driver of the church van. Crawford has served as a Coach and Assistant Coach for a variety of sports, programs associated with the YMCA, Lake Hamilton Optimist Club, and the Hot Springs Boys and Girls Club. An avid hunter and fisherman, Crawford was recognized by the Arkansas Wildlife Federation, in conjunction with Sears & Roebuck Company, as an Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.
