For our SLP project, 9I decided as a group to raise awareness of brain cancer and the need for increased research into the diagnosis and treatment of brain cancers. We discovered that of all of the government funding given to cancer research, only 3% is directed to brain cancer. Yet we discovered the horrifying reality that brain cancer is the number 1 killer of children under 15. To raise awareness, our form class made lots of origami cranes (The symbol for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation curebraincancer.org.au/) and participated in the annual Newro Foundation Brain Cancer Walkathon.
