For our foreign friends here is a translation of our project description. Thank you and enjoy. Vacaresti pit has an interesting history and most probably a more interesting future. We will not get into details related to the flora and fauna that developed in the new urban delta since one can find them from other sources. We have focused on the people that took a refuge in this controversial area, living in huts build up from scraps they found in the neighborhood. We propose two visions converged on the same subject, which differ not only in terms of visual approach but also in terms of technical means. Also we are using the old trick - film vs. digital, color vs. B&W. We will add posts along the project deployment to the initial photo selections. We started this on the 19th of April and since then we tried to crop slices of those people’s life seasoned with good things, bad things and a lot of shades of grey. Since then, hundreds of photos were shot, as many smiles, words and a few jaw strains. But beyond all the feelings that may transfigure the photos there is the empathy and closeness towards this people. One of the thoughts guiding us through this project was, apart from the photo-documentary reasons, to be able to help. Us directly and also through your participation. Petruta, Amar, Florin, Cristi, Denisa, Ali, Andreea, Nicu. The kids. They can live in apartments, playing with tablets, smartphones or watching cartoons. For which there are birthdays, Christmas, New Years Eve. For which the notion of present is already known. Unfortunately it’s not the case for the kids mentioned above. For reasons they cannot be held responsible. This is why, towards the end of this project, we would like to donate alongside with you, a few things that can enlighten their life. Clothes, toys, shoes, food (mainly oil, sugar, milk powder), pampers (no. 3-4) and anything else that we haven’t thought about. We find it enough that, being the interface between the reality and image, we chose subjectively what and how to photograph and therefore we will refrain as much as we can from emitting opinions.
