For the exhibition Unscrolled, artist Jennifer Wen Ma created a large scale installation in the Gallerys rotunda. Titled Inked Chandelier, this work is composed of more than 700 species of flora native to Canada’s West Coast that are completely covered with ink. These plants continue to grow as green buds sprout from the blackness, paying homage to the legacy of ink painting by emphasizing time as an element of the composition. Viewers are invited to observe the live sculpture transform over time.
