Mahler, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Brahms, Chopin – too many to list them all. I have had the honor to sit in the front row for many piano concertos played by some of the best living pianists. Most piano concertos by the classical masters start with an orchestral intro – and sometimes it’s a few minutes before one hears the piano at all. A few – like Beethoven’s Piano Concerto #5 (Emperor) start immediately with the piano. Onward to Freedom Prelude is in line with that.
