For the past few days, Ive been contemplating writing an article - TopicsExpress

For the past few days, Ive been contemplating writing an article titled Pan-Afrikanism revisited in which I pose uncomfortable questions about whether or not the ideal of a united Afrika is practical. I wanted to write this article as a reflection of the work Ive been doing with the African Union and the SADC Secretariat, because after 5 years of being active in the Afrikan civic movement, I have learned a lot and have also had some illusions shattered. For one thing, 5 years ago I believed without a shadow of doubt that my generation is the one Afrika has been waiting for, that we are going to do things differently. This is why when comrade Floyd Shivambu sat me down to talk about EFF in June 2013, I didnt hesitate to throw my weight behind the movement. But I can tell you now, after having done some work and been involved in some programmes across the continent, after my experience in the EFF and at the level of the AU work, that our generation is not fundamentally different in how we do things, perhaps even in how we think. In many ways, we are like the old guard. As I was contemplating this, SAfm calls me for an interview to engage the exact same question, in an hour-long discussion. So the would-be article will now be an actual national discussion tomorrow morning. So, my people, we have a date tomorrow from 09h00 to 10h00 on SAfm. I would like to recommend that those of you who can, please go through Dr. Kwame Nkrumahs document, Afrikan Socialism Revisited as part of my argument will be borrowing a lot from his works, particularly this one. And please re-read chapter 3 of Frantz Fanons Wretched of the Earth. See you there!
