For the past few years, I have been trying to practice the art of accepting the moments of free contemplation that life presents everyday. You know, the traffic jam, the long line at the grocery store...all the little things that tempt me to impatience and which become obstacles to My Very Important Life that everyone else should just make room for. This blog post takes the concept a step further. Our attitude and assumptions frame our reality. The monthly password change could be another de-humanizing, pain in the neck obstacle in a grind that we let wear down our souls. Or we can choose to make even this little thing a free moment to re-humanize oneself; to choose a prayer over a password. It is taking a moment of free grace and acting on it. To me this much more than mere self-improvement. We can use this as a way to let in holiness, to allow the little things that were obstacles become a moment of attentive grace: of choosing hope over skepticism, of taking hold of holiness over expediency.
