For those of you who cannot get online access to The Herald-Times, please note this nice endorsement LTTE from todays paper: Letter: Holloway will listen The Herald-Times | Posted: Thursday, October 23, 2014 2:00 am Holloway Will Listen To the editor: As a career educator with a thorough knowledge of the Monroe County Community School Corp., I support Chuck Holloway for the District 1 representative for the school board. Chuck is well known in Bloomington as a student advocate, having been a middle school teacher and then principal at Aurora Alternative High School and the Bloomington Graduation School. His vision for both schools was to provide meaningful learning experiences for kids who, for whatever reason, did not thrive in traditional schools. I taught English at Aurora from 1995-2001, and consider Chuck a mentor to this day. He respected and supported even the most difficult students, and did the same for my colleagues and me. Teachers were treated as professionals, and given the freedom to develop curriculum and instruction that met students’ needs and interests. To teachers, parents, and students: if elected to the MCCSC board, Chuck will be your advocate. He will listen to your concerns and bring your perspectives to the board’s conversations and decision making. A new voice is needed, and his experience as a long-time educator provides him with unique insight into everyday school experiences, juxtaposed within the larger context of the community, state and nation.
