For those of you who dont know - I was a tiny 9th grade student when I first learned about pancreatic cancer. My English teacher lost her father that year and my life has never been the same. His legacy, along with so many others, lives in my heart and fuels my daily work. My teacher went on to become the affiliate coordinator for the Central Florida affiliate and I grew up to work for this wonderful organization. Ever since I moved to California in February I have been hoping to attend the PurpleStride Central Florida 2014 event. It was really important for me to go. My teacher has been my biggest mentor and inspiration in life and this was my way of showing a mere fraction of the support she has always given me. Shes the reason I even have this job and have found my passion in the nonprofit world. This afternoon I purchased my plane ticket to be there for the event and my heart is possibly going to burst with gratitude. I cannot wait to get back to my roots and support this event. I will see you in November, Orlando!
