For those of you who dont know. I am the youngest of 6 siblings. I have 4 sisters and 1 brother. My brother is very special to me. I literally owe him my life. When I was 5 yrs old my brother and a friend, secretly, without telling a soul, escaped Cuba in a makeshift boat they put together. They left in the middle of the night. My parents didnt know he was going to do this until they found him missing the next morning. My brother made it to Miami where he and his friend flew to New Jersey where they found a place to live and a job. My brother started putting money aside until he head enough to be able to pay and bring my parents, my siblings and I to America. I was able to grow up in a free country thanks to him. I was able to go to school. I was able to learn a second language. If my brother hadnt done that, I dont know where wed be today. I was able to raise my kids in a country where there is freedom and they could choose what they wanted for their future and were able to pursue it. I had never talked about this with my brother. I dont know why. I guess I was waiting for the right time. However, I was recently faced with the right time. I thanked him for what he did. I told him he was very brave, considering he was a young man at the time. He put his life on the line for all of us. I acknowledged that. I told him how much I loved him for doing that for us. How grateful I am. I thanked him for my freedom and for that of my kids. For giving us a second chance. I love my brother for everything he did for his family. He is that kind of person. To me, he is very special. Like I said, I owe him my life, I owe him so much. I love you Ene!
