For those of you wondering why Im separating dog breeds based on origin: There has been debate world wide about where dogs originated from. Some say they all came from wolves(well...which wolves?), others know for a fact that some countries bred them from Dingos. The truth is, our modern day dogs are a hodgepodge of origins. American dogs being the absolute biggest hodgepodge in existence due to the immigration that tried to destroy everything native. So I am going to track back the origins of dog breeds. Many dog breeds came from other dog breeds...which came from other dog breeds. So after I check origin by country Ill be checking origin by breeding and putting a note with each picture about their breeding history. There are over a dozen extinct breeds of dogs that most breeds can be traced back to. So this week the goal is to separate by Origin of country. Next week I will edit all of these to Give the breeding back ground. By the third week I should have it narrowed down to what breeds came from extinct or wild canines. By week 4 what I suspect we will see is that each country has a separate population of wildlife that they developed their dog breeds from. As we mixed them we changed the dynamics of their personalities, intelligence, obedience, and so on. What I already know is that all of these dogs do share a common ancestor and it was what ever canine that Noah had on the ark. Which was NOT our modern day wolves or dogs. History on the investigation: Noah lived on Pangaea. When the flood came the only non plant life left alive were those on the Ark with the exception of water dwelling animals. (most likely the crocodile and alligator ancestor was not on the ark and was able to stay in the water along with many species of snakes and amphibians.) Mega fauna erupted after Noah released the animals... including the dire wolf which was due to inbreeding (in other words, Dire wolves were corrupted with bad genes, they were mutations that did not survive). The dire wolf was not a beast big as a horse as tv would have you believe and it had a weaker bite power than the wolves we have today.) The low breeding population after the flood meant that all animals were severely inbred for a while until things evened out which is why we have so many extinct species of animals at one time (mutations that failed to thrive). As the continents split further apart and natural bridges were cut this caused another spike in inbreeding. (animals were separated by continents) Which is why our panthers no longer resemble each other: Lions, Tigers, Leopards, and Jaguars. The same split happened with the canines: Wolves, Jackals, dingos, etc. And so on with other animal groups. ---- So we started at the beginning to end up here. The ancestor was released from the ark- it had a number of mutations (or what some would call evolutionary steps) which simply means stronger mutations survived and passed on these new genes which were unlocked through inbreeding. In a few places the mega fauna gene was unlocked others led to dwarf genes, and still others led to small, long coated, short coated, etc. The stronger of these genes as the continents divided were the ones that were able to breed and pass the genes on. The inbreeding eventually leveled out to species that were able to cross without throwing mutations. (It is exactly the same as trying to breed a dog breed with a new specific color or pattern- which I dont condone.) And we are going to end up here- People decided to begin breeding their semi tame canine friends with other peoples semi tame canine friends to push for traits that they found most acceptable or useful (much like breeding for the biggest cows...which theyd been doing for a long time by that point). And then we should be able to answer the question that is making people so outraged - who is our dogs ancestor?
