Forget Charles Lindberghs solo flight across the Atlantic. Lt Elmer Stone a U.S. Coast Guard pilot and a six man Navy crew made the flight from Trepassey Bay Newfoundland to the Azores in a Navy Curtiss flying boat in May of 1919, eight years earlier.
