Forty-four years ago today, my brother Bill and I recently discharged from military service joined about 30,000 others in the Chicano Moratorium in East Los Angeles to call for an end to the Vietnam war and US aggression in other countries of that region. It was a peaceful but spirited march and rally, but the L. A. sheriffs department felt it necessary to attack, about 150 arrested, dozens injured and three killed. Sadly, the war-mongers appear more powerful than ever. But the struggle continues.
