Four rescued after boat runs aground - Kurnell Four people have been rescued after their boat was washed onto rocks at Kurnell yesterday afternoon. About 3pm on Saturday 8 November 2014, emergency services were called to an area near Cape Solander following reports that a boat had run aground. A Police Helicopter (POLAIR) conducted a patrol of the area and spotted an upturned fishing boat washed up on the rocks. Two crew members were still on the boat and two had made it to shore. Police landed the helicopter on the rock shelf and took two of the boat crew to safety. A local surf lifesaver and a POLAIR crew member were able to rescue the remaining crew members by the time the helicopter returned. One of the passengers was taken to Sutherland Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries. The other three occupants were not injured. Investigations into the incident continue with attempts to be made to salvage the vessel.
