Freakonomics India istyle: Projected to be spent by politicians: $5Billion : Rs. 30,000 crores. All money in mattresses is coming out now. Money from Swiss bank and Mauritius is flowing back. Rupee is strengthening. FDIs and smart investors are pumping into the stock market to make a quick buck. Most of the black money will go into the underground economy, but some spending will spillover into the overground economy and benefit the businesses. Indices are touching all time highs ignoring bad news like, growth in services sector which contracted for the eighth straight month in February. That is why I like Aravind Kerjiwal istyle of politics. He makes sure elections are a annual phenomenon. All the money from un-productive sectors like mattresses, and swiss bank deposits are channeled to more productive sectors like election rally spending which spreads the money to the people at the bottom of the pyramid. This is infact the best stimulus package that an ailing economy like India can have. RBI could not have come up with a much better scheme to infuse funds to such a large population at the bottom of the pyramid. I would say, let there be one election per year.
