Freddys Dead: The Final Nightmare opened in theaters on this day in 1991. I still remember going to see this one my senior year of high school at the UA Breckenridge when it used to be on the other side of the parking lot. Nationally, there was a faux funeral and extensive media coverage. It was an event, because they were finally killing off Freddy Krueger.Yeah, that didnt happen, but the film, even as bad as it was, had a lot of interesting aspects. Remember that awesome soundtrack? Roseanne Barr, Tom Arnold, Elinor Donahue, Yaphet Kotto, Breckin Meyer, Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper all make appearances in the film. Remember the Nintendo Power Glove? How about the 3-D gimmick at the end of the film when Freddys daughter Maggie (Lisa Zane) kills Mr. Krueger? All that said, its the worst Nightmare film with the exception of Wes Cravens New Nightmare (1994). New Nightmare is just plain awful and will forever be the worst Freddy film in my heart.
