Free electrons constitutes current .But to move electron or to push electron we need a force that force which is motivating the electrons to flow is called electro motive force simply called as emf.For electrons to flow at one side of conductor there must be excess of electrons and another side deficiency of electrons .Because of this one end will act as positive charge (if any atoms looses electron that means negative chage it will become positive)and other end acts as negative charge.There must be attraction force between unlike charges so all the free electrons on negative charge will flow towards positive charge and make the both charges neutral.Thus electrons will flow in a conductor and the motion is called drift motion .Free electron in one atom jumps to another atom and that again jumps to other till it reaches its destination nothing but positive end.
