French Onion Meatloaf with Mushroom Gravy 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef 1/2 lb mild breakfast sausage 3/4 tsp salt or seasoned salt blend 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 2 eggs, lightly beaten 1 1/4 cup bread crumbs 1/3 cup milk 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup finely chopped onion 1/4 tsp dried leaf thyme, crumbled 1 tbs butter Gravy 2 cups water 1 cup chopped mushrooms 1 envelope of dry gravy mix 1 tsp beef base Mix ground beef, salt, pepper, eggs, bread crumbs, milk, Worcestershire & thyme. Shape into loaves and place in a 13 x 9 glass baking dish. Set aside. Saute onions in 1 tsp butter to desired tenderness (use pot you will make gravy in.) Put sauteed onions on top of meat loaves. Bake at 350° for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until internal temperature of 155 degrees. While the meatloaf is baking saute mushrooms in 1 tsp butter, transfer to plate. Leave butter remnants in pot and add 2 cups water, bring to a boil. Add beef base and 1-2tbs drippings from meatloaf, whisk until dissolved. Turn heat to medium, add gravy mix and stir. Once gravy mix is dissolved add mushrooms, simmer to desired thickness. Serve over meatloaf. Recipe By: Joyce Thompson.
