Friday 11th July 2014 Well after saying I had nothing to report I had a bit of drama last night. Everything had been Ok so we agreed Adrian was Ok to go back down to Wales to finish off our decking. Mums here looking after me and I dont need to go back to the hospital til next Tuesday.... all under control. However... it was about 8.30pm and I noticed a block in my drain tube. My lymph fluid wasnt draining and the vacuum had gone on the pump. In the meantime fluid was building under my arm and my lymphodoema that had been Ok was starting to get aggravated. So.. no problem I thought just change the bottle but then realised they hadnt given me a spare on Tuesday. So... no problem just call the district nurse to come round.. phoned them and was told they dont hold the bottles and I have to collect one from the hospital. I rang the ward and they said Its a straight forward swap of bottle just come to the hospital ward and they will just sort it out. Dilemma... Im not allowed to drive. Mum cant drive. Taxi £50 return from here. No cash on me anyway. Told hospital my problem. They said it cant be left so somehow I needed to get to a bottle or a bottle has to get to me. She said shed see what she could do her end and in the meantime I had to try and get a lift. So begins operation lift finder via Facebook. For an hour .... Haha. Typical people were out or on holiday or too far away etc... was just starting to panic when a friend volunteered. Phew. .. However in the meantime the hospital rang to say they were sending one of their staff nurses directly to my house with a bottle. Oh the relief. Poor Adrian all this time was in Wales pacing the floor wishing he was here. Bless him. Anyway panic was eventually over. Bottle changed. Blockage sorted and fluid now draining Ok. District nurse popping back today with a spare. Xx
