Friday FAQ: I heard that Chiropractic has helped people with asthma and other lung disorders, how is this so? Answer: Whereas Chiropractors have seen improvements with people suffering with lung disorders, they are in no way treating a patient for a lung disorder. They are working with a persons spine with the goal of improving spinal posture, taking stress off of the very essential Nervous System and allowing the person to function and heal at its most optimal level! With that being said, Chiropractic care has helped patients with lung disorders simply because when someone has a slouched, forward posture (ie rounded shoulders) that decreases the amount of motion in the rib cage thus making it difficult for the lungs to fully expand. Correcting this posture has allowed the lungs to expand more efficiently thus allowing the patient to breath more optimally!
