Friday July 25 2014 Alma 10:6 I was called many times and I would not hear; therefore I knew concerning these things, yet I would not know; therefore I went on rebelling against God, in the wickedness of my heart. Alma 10:6 The voice of the Lord calls to us regularly. Often, it is not sin that dulls our minds and hearts to spiritual impressions. Wickedness and carnality are not the only things that keep us from feeling and hearing the word. The problem may be simply that our minds and hearts are focused upon other thins. We may be so caught up in the cares of the world, so busy being busy, that we crowd out the sweet whisperings of the Spirit. We became so involved in the thick of thin things that we dont take time to listen to the words of the living prophets, ponder the things of eternity, or supplicate our Maker in sincere prayer. Excessive concentration on secondary matters can block spiritual opportunities that flow naturally when we place primary attention on everlasting things. We must not live in the twilight beneath our spiritual privileges but, with softened hearts and listening ears, bask in the glory of the noonday Son.
