Friends Old & New, Thank you all for the birthday wishes. Each passing year, my experiences as a young man in Iowa seem more nostalgic. I barely remember that guy but I do remember the friendships I have made along the way—thank you for being part of the journey. I am also blessed to have a wonderful wife and great child. Sarah (15) gave me a very sweet birthday gift yesterday by going to the driving range. Although I know she has little interest in golf, she has such a pure swing that I know she could be a very good player. Someday, perhaps. She is an incredibly hard working student, a tremendous athlete and a very nice young lady. Sharon has continued to make everything perfect for us at home and to drive the shuttle to school & activities. Those days will end soon as Sarah is about to get her permit. I admire my wife for her dedication to our daughter and to her physical condition—she has made an amazing transformation. The past year was quite memorable. Our family mission to see over 100 countries continued—although we repeated a few of our favorites this year. We checked off Turkey, Monaco and Israel. We also returned to France & Italy where we cannot get enough of the history, food and culture. On the domestic front, I finally got to Pebble Beach and I keep wondering what took me so long. I had a long visit to NYC and Connecticut over the summer and enjoyed playing golf with many of my friends at their home clubs. I have not mentioned any names but those of you who have had an impact in the past year know who you are—thank you for being a friend. To those whom I have not seen in a while, reach out and reconnect. Thanks again for the birthday wishes… I have come a long way from the days when the highlight of my birthday was the free meal at Denny’s! Cary
