From Chief Jeff Frazier: One of the best things that can happen in the day of this Redlands Fire Department Chief is to receive a note such as the following from Battalion Chief Richard Sessler : Chief, I just wanted to share another example of our department personnel going above and beyond. ME 264C responded to a medical aid call earlier today for 16-year-old girl with seizures. Upon arrival, the crew made contact with patient and family. Through patient care and discussion with the mother, ME264 discovered the young lady has missed a significant number of school days and is having a difficult time attending school on a regular basis due to these undiagnosed seizures. The patient wanted to attend school tomorrow (4/11) to celebrate her birthday. ME264 treated and transported the patient. At approximately 1830 (6:30 p.m.) ME264 received a medical aid call at the Stater Bros. on Colton. Upon arrival, they found the same young lady experiencing a seizure with her mother at the grocery store. They had just been released from Redlands Community Hospital earlier and were shopping for her birthday cake to celebrate tomorrow. ME264 provided patient care and completed the call. At completion of the medical aid, ME264 bought a birthday cake and balloons for the young lady and took them to her home. These actions taken by the crew is what makes our department stand out. I know ME264 is not seeking any recognition, but providing this exceptional level of service represents our department and the values we hold dear.” I feel so fortunate to be the Chief of an organization that consistently exceeds even the highest of expectations. Myself, and all the residents of Redlands, are nothing less than blessed to have individuals like Captain Toppo, Engineer Dye, and Firefighter Ramirez serving our community.
