From City of Fairfax: Post Date:09/12/2014 10:05 AM The city is undergoing multiple projects in Old Town Fairfax, which will involve lane closures and possible traffic delays — including the construction of a pedestrian barrier at North Street and Route 123/Chain Bridge Road. The work zone of the pedestrian barrier, adjacent to the north side of The Auld Shebeen restaurant (3971 Chain Bridge Road), will require the closure of the right eastbound lane of North Street through October. The right northbound lane of Route 123/Chain Bridge Road at this intersection will be closed periodically during construction through October. The sidewalk on the south side of North Street will be closed at the work zone along the side of the Auld Shebeen restaurant. The sidewalk will remain open along Route 123/Chain Bridge Road and access to the front (main entrance) of Auld Shebeen will not be affected. However, pedestrians crossing North Street will have to cross on the west side of Route 123/Chain Bridge Road. These closures are expected to continue through October. Drivers should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes during construction times. To receive up-to-the-minute road closure and traffic information for the city, sign up for Fairfax City Alert, the citys electronic message alert system on the city website: fairfaxva.gov/fairfaxcityalert.
