From FB friend Janet R: John, I am so upset about the scotus ruling - most likely wont be able to call the show so hoping you see this message. $64.44- thats the number I cant stop thinking about. Thats how much I had to squeeze out of my household budget every month- not for me- a divorced mother of 2, who wasnt having a whole lot of action (and when I did, condoms!) but for my daughter who at 11, started dragging her little Disney sleeping bag into the bathroom to sleep there 2 or 3 nights a month because she felt so sick. Eventually her pediatrician put her on hormones and she could function again - sleeping in her bed, not missing any school. But insurance would not pay for it because another use of the same prescription was for birth control. It didnt matter that her doctor wrote a letter to the insurance company - they wouldnt pay it. I have been so happy that no one in our situation would be struggling to come up with that $64.44* every month and now......so discouraged. This is insane. Janet - the official Speech Pathologist of SMS * we tried generic- Id find her sleeping in the bathroom again. And that $64.44 added up to almost $8,000 by the time she turned 21. I could have used that for my last year of grad school instead of borrowing.
