From Mark Driscoll to Ergun Caner to Rick Warren (and now JD Hall)...keep in mind that whatever your critical opinion on these men may be, they very well may have sons/daughters who see their dad as their greatest hero. Every vitriolic statement they hear/read from those ready to “expose” their faults, paints a picture for them of what God is like. Do some leaders need their misdeeds exposed? Perhaps. But it ought to be in a posture that is respectful & humanizing, or else many of their children who have front row seats, suffer, most quietly, some sadly by ending their life, as did Caner’s. The Christian community needs to learn how to dialog better over significant matters w/o all the rage, angst, exaggeration, and poison of a talk show host.
