From NTU News E Forum: (permalink: https://facebook/sunflowermovement/posts/345449588913536) The KMT caucus in the Legislative Yuan has scheduled a joint meeting this morning to review the Free Economic Pilot Zone (FEPZ) draft bill, prompting numerous civic groups to assemble outside the Legislative Yuan in protest. At 8:45, protestors scaled the wall between the sidewalk and the square in front of the LY main entrance; Fang Yang-ning (方仰寧), head of Zhongzheng 1 Precinct and commander of the police on the site, demanded that protestors leave the premises. After the Illegal assembly sign was raised four times without effect, at 9:30 the police began to forcibly evict protestors from the square. Police used handcuffs and plastic tie strings to restrict protestors movements before carrying them out onto the sidewalk. In addition, two protestors were taken into custody on charges of attacking and insulting police. Civic groups held a press conference at the site shortly afterward to issue a four-point statement: 1. We oppose meddling in Taiwans internal affairs by China and Chinese elements; 2. We oppose the bill allowing for land grabs under multiple systems in one country; 3. The government must not attempt to force through the FEPZ bill again; 4. If the last line of defense is breached, the people will rise up in arms again.
