From The Palm Beach Post: An ecstatic Eric Draper, executive director of Audubon Florida, said he was stunned by the support for the citizen-driven measure that will provide an estimated $18 billion over 20 years to buy, protect and maintain sensitive lands. “We’re so excited here,” he said from Tallahassee, minutes after The Associated Press declared the measure had enough votes to pass. “It’s hard not to be hugging people. It’s so amazing.” In calling the passage of the amendment “the biggest thing that ever happened for the environment in Florida,” Draper doffed his hat to Palm Beach County voters. With nearly every precinct reporting, it had received nearly 85 percent of the county’s vote.
