From a member: Has anybody ever contested a speeding fine that was not caught on RADAR/LIDAR, but was instead calculated via onboard video over a set period of time? (speed = distance / time). I suspect that the dashboard video is not maintained in the same fashion that radar is, and may not be recording time as accurately, which could render the results inaccurate. This is in relation to a NSW infringement that I am contesting. My speed was not recorded, but the officer rewieved the dashboard footage and worked out what he thinks my speed was, and mailed me the infringements. He was trailing me for approximately 5km before I noticed him, so he got a good chunk of footage). If you have nothing useful to contribute, dont bother commenting. But if youve had a similar experience, taken a similar issue to court or fought it with the SDRO before, Id love to hear your results, as Im currently putting my defense together. Cheers.
