From my Daughters of the King Devotional: “When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” Luke 5:4 (NLT) Peter had given his boat to Jesus to use for ministry to the multitudes. Afterwards, Jesus wanted to bless Peter, so He gave him instructions to “go out where the water was deeper and to let down his nets”. Jesus could have easily performed a miracle and commanded the fish to come forth and fill the boat without Peter having to do anything. Yet, He chose to teach him an important lesson about being a fisher of men. Peter partially obeyed the Lord and went out and let down one single net. So many fish came in that it filled the entire boat, the boat began to sink, the net broke, and many of the fish were lost. Every fish caught was worth money to Peter and every soul is worth something to God. Partial obedience can cost precious lives. Whatever God has told you to do, do it! Not just the part that is convenient or that makes sense to your mind. Follow His instructions completely and you will be blessed and a great blessing to others. Prayer: Father, forgive me if I have not followed Your instructions completely. The orders You have given me are given to bless me and others. I choose to obey You fully. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
