From our Employment Readiness Program: Career Opportunity Day – Service Member DATE: Thursday, 6 Nov 2014 LOCATION: Gordon’s Conference and Catering Building 18402, 19th St, Fort Gordon, GA 30905 WHAT: Career Opportunity Days are FREE non-traditional career fair-type events held specifically for transitioning service members, their spouses and caregivers, and recently separated veterans. As an attendee, you will have the chance to connect one-on-one with hiring managers from companies who are actively recruiting. You will learn about the hiring organizations, practice your ability to demonstrate your skill sets, and verbalize the value you will bring to the organization by participating in several introductory interviews. This face-to-face interaction will be invaluable to you as you navigate the next step in your transition—a civilian career. A primary outcome is to help in building your confidence to effectively express your value to a prospective employer in an interview setting. This is a small event with no more than 15 companies, with open positions, a great way for you to have one-on-one conversations with prospective hiring managers. HOW: Throughout the Career Opportunity Day, you will have the opportunity to visit employer information booths to learn more about the prospective opportunities, speak about the skills you can bring to the organization, and schedule introductory interviews. At the conclusion of the interview, employers will provide honest, friendly feedback on what you did well during the interview and what you could improve upon during future interviews. We encourage you to pre-register online, so that the companies are able to review your resume in advance. This will also allow Hire Heroes USA to pre-match you with prospective employers that best fit your background, interest, and experience.
