From stopwar.org.uk ________________________________________ #GazA9 will be the biggest ever UK demonstration for Gaza Assemble 12 noon - BBC HQ, Portland Place - Saturday 9 August 2014 ...to Hyde Park via the US Embassy Full details of the route and getting to London Saturdays demo will see the largest number ever take to the streets of London for Gaza. Together we will make three clear demands. We will call for • an end to the massacre • an end to the siege • support for boycott and sanctions, an arms embargo and to recall the UK Parliament to end its support for Israeli aggression. To ensure you get to the demonstration on time, please take a moment to plan your journey carefully. Getting to London - *TRAFFIC ALERT* • By car: traffic in London on Saturday will be very bad due to the demonstration and also a big London cycle ride which will close many roads. From 9am you wont be able to get north across the river between Tower Bridge and Parliament Square. We recommend that anyone driving into London allows an extra hour to get into town. • By coach: please see the Stop the web site to book the last few seats available on coaches from 39 locations around the UK. • By underground: Oxford Circus is the nearest tube station to BBC HQ and will therefore be very busy. We recommend using Regents Park and Great Portland Street stations and walking south. We can still reach more people through social media, particularly on Facebook and Twitter. • Invite your friends to the Facebook event • Tweet about the demonstration with the #GazA9 hash tag Stop the War Emergency Appeal • Donate online or by calling 020 7561 4830 to support our campaign for Gaza Read the latest on Gaza on the Stop the War web site • I am a Jew and I insist it is not anti-semitic to criticise Israel for its Gaza crimes Barnaby Raine • A Song for Gaza: The Ballad of Rivka and Mohammed Leon Rosselson A message from the organizers of the demonstration On Saturday 9 August, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Palestinian Forum in Britain, CND, Muslim Association of Britain and the British Muslim Initiative are organising a national demonstration for Gaza. We are encouraging all organisations and individuals opposing Israel’s attack on Gaza to attend. Our protests are diverse and include people from all walks of life, all faiths and no faith, who are coming together and uniting for Palestinian rights. The protest is organised in line with the anti-racist principles of the sponsoring organisations. In particular no racist, anti-Semitic or Islamophobic placards or behaviour is acceptable. Stewards have been instructed to request participants to act with respect to all people on the march. We know that many organisations support the demo and are welcome, but due especially to the size of the demonstration, constraints of space mean that there will be some areas of the assembly space that will not be available for stalls, other than those of the organisers. There will still be plenty of alternative spaces for stalls and placards, and we ask everyone to respect this arrangement.* There will also be one official collection to help cover the costs of the demonstration. *We are asking people to pitch stalls and gazebos NORTH of the BBC building in Portland Place to allow easier assembly for the demonstration. People will of course be able to distribute leaflets and papers anywhere else that they choose ________________________________________ Stop the War Coalition | [email protected] | 020 7561 4830
