From the Brilliant mind of John Brewer, “If you like your insurance, you can keep it. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”…became… “ If you like your insurance or doctor, you can keep it so long as you are allowed to keep it and if you didn’t on account of something written in a law, it’s because we don’t like your insurance or doctor as much as you do and, even though we have no way of knowing what the arrangement was between you and your insurance and your doctor, it was all probably a crap arrangement to begin with and we need to just forget about what was said before because it no longer means what you think it meant at the time it was stated, again and again, with the exception of those who did keep their insurance or doctor or both because, then, it did mean what wasn’t meant to apply to those that were deemed ineligible for the original meaning of the assertion or promise as, of course, the original promise or assertion was merely meant for educational purposes only where any resemblance to assertions or promises past or present were purely coincidental; void where prohibited; sign here; batteries not included; the reader assumes full responsibility.” I guess, when enough people cling to the idea that The Constitution “lives” and “breathes” like a perpetually morphing blob, it is only a matter of time that anything we assert or promise “lives” or “breathes” with the same morphing characteristics.
