From the pen of LYNN BROWN Gordons Bay Review November 2013 issue: A TOUCH OF SOPHISTICATION AT THE WIND-ROSE DINNER AND CABARET EVENING Filling a much needed entertainment gap in Gordons Bay, Estelle and Dennis ONeill have added a touch of sophistication with the introduction of their Dinner and Cabaret evenings at Wind-Rose Guest House. Their first evening was a wonderfully entertaining success! The venue, which caters for fifty people, was sold out for this first-of-its-kind in our town, and judging by the applause (a standing ovasion), favourable comments and convivial buzz at the end of the evening, the next event should be well supported. The cost of the evening included a two-course meal ending with coffee and cupcakes and, of course, the entertainment. There was also a cash bar available. Estelle could not have chosen a better opening cabaret act than the classical singing duo, Lana English (best known for her role as Christine in the 2004 performance of Phantom of the Opera) and her brother,Victor Siljeur. They captivated the audience with their polished repartee and glorious voices, incorporating popular ballads, hits from the musicals and operatic arias into their repertoire. Victor charmed the ladies with his remarkable tenor voice while Lana, slipping into the flirtatious roles of Mimi from La Boheme and Violetta from La Traviata, captured the hearts of more than one gentleman during the course of the evening! Even more impressive was the modulation of the overall sound, which can easily ruin the evening, especially in a cosy cabaret atmosphere. Dramatic music and soaring notes notwithstanding, their performances were perfectly pitched, what a pleasure! Estelle plans to host a cabaret evening once a quarter and she is already planning the next one, which will take place on February 22nd 2014 at 17h00 for 17h30. A NIGHT IN PARIS will feature comedian, singer and song-writer EMILE MINNIE, performing the music of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel along with a few universal standards a la Michael Buble thrown in for good measure. More details to follow. Be sure that you dont miss it!
