* Fun Fact: the motto of the United States of America In God We Trust was not our original motto, in fact our original motto was called E Pluribus Unum or Latin for Out of Many, One. Which was changed to In God We Trust around the 1950s during the Cold War, as response to the Soviet Unions stance on state sponsored Athiesm. Which the Soviet Union outlawed all forms of belief, and favored Athiesm above all other faiths. The United States changed the motto, to demonstrate that the United States support religious freedom. The motto has been under fire lately stating that it may violate separation of church and state laws, that it favors Christianity above other religious beliefs. According to the first amendment of the United States Constitution, or the (Bill of Rights). That it gurantees that everyone is entitled to freedom of religion, and it prevents the government from establishing an official religion, as well as favoriting one religion over another. Which in terms makes the United States an secular nation, despite the vast majority of Christians living in the US, we are however not a Christian country. It is because of the first amendment, it gurantees that no religious group is given special treatment and that it protects everyone from violations against their civil liberties.
