Yesterday, we went down to see the Doctors at HUP, and the HEENT informed us that all of the plans for the very intensive surgery have been completely put on hold due to the discovery that the disease has gone into the lymphatic system on the left side. Instead, he wants to do yet another pan-endoscopy to see if there is disease somewhere else that would explain its spread. It just may prove to be too big to cure surgically. While Proton radiation and chemotherapy are still usable, it would mainly be effective in controlling the growth of tumors rather than affecting a cure. It would be used in conjunction with palliative care to let me get a longer time, but with the suffering of the therapies. We really have to look at the quality of life it would offer, as I would rather live than simply exist. At some point you have to decide to simply enjoy every sandwich. Also, we confirmed that my employer is charging me the entire cost of my health insurance rather than the amount he was taking as an employee contribution. Which works out to over $1100.00 per month. We paid for next month, but most likely will need to explore other options and actions. Very depressing when you realize how some folks do business. I also managed to crack the mirror on the car when it got clipped in the city, and had another tooth crack last night.. So the fundraiser continues. Damn, I hate that have to ask, but if you cannot pitch in, please try and spread the word as far as you can by whatever media. Today, the appointments are later this afternoon so I can at least try to rest a bit.
