Funny the things that cross your mind ... just made a review of Facebook and noticed the comments from people that went out to hear their favorite bands last night. Many had a great time and made comments about how much they loved the local talent here in Baltimore. There were a few people that noted that its great to hear these bands but they are just local talent. That aggravated me in a way because that oh, theyre just local bands, attitude also played out when I lived in California and worked at the Whisky Night Club on Sunset Blvd. We were loading in equipment that afternoon for the show that evening and as the discussion carried on about the show, I asked who was playing. The reply from management was , just a couple of local bands, Spirit and Janis Joplins Band. You should never downplay the successful musicians in your town. They were all local talent at some point in time. Baltimore and all of Maryland have some terrific music talent and Im sure there are many here on Facebook that can provide a list of the most successful that have made their mark on the National and International music scene and placed the spotlight on our beloved Maryland and Baltimore.
