GBANGBA DEKUN AT IKIRE It was carnival -like at the ancient town of Ikire when the train of the public participatory programme of the Ogbeni Aregbesola administration tagged Gbangba Dekun moved to the Irewole/Ayedade/ Isokan Federal Constituency of the state. Ayedaade High School, venue of the 7th edition of the programme, was filled to capacity as the 4000 seater canopy became inadequate and extras were also put up for use in order to accommodate the surging crowd who thronged out in their large numbers to witness and participate in the programme. Speaking at the event, Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola assured the people of the constituency that his administration will not neglect any community in terms of developmental projects in the state saying that his administration recognised the fact that there are still more grounds to cover. He assured that the present government in the state will strive to complete all the projects and that the remotest part of the state will not be neglected. Responding to various questions during the programme, the governor assured the people in the area that the roads in Ikire and Ikoyi will be given serious attention. The governor also allayed the fear of the people on the abuse of Opon Imo by the students saying the state government will constitute a committee that will monitor the usage of the device in schools and urged parents to also monitor their children in order to prevent abuse of the device. According to the Governor, the administration has done what most people claimed have never been done in the history of the state stressing that the government is so people -centred that it will be difficult to abandon the people mid stream. Also speaking, Hon. Ayo Omidiran, member House of Representatives from the constituency ,who lauded the governor for touching various sectors in the constituency said on her own part she has sunk 11 boreholes and built two maternity centres in Irewole, one in Isokan and promised to build additional one in Ayedaade. She added that 5,000 seedlings of Cocoa as well as agro-chemicals were provided for farmers as well as the purchase of one hundred and ten computers for students among others as constituency projects she had embarked on. The Olufi of Gbongan, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi described the governor as a model for Yoruba and the entire black race with his unprecedented developmental project He said Aregbesola has shown direction for good governance and the people must not be deceived as Aregbesola is a replica of the Late Sage, Obafemi Awolowo hence he is restoring the lost glory of the Yoruba race He stated further that the present generation like the time of Awolowo has done so much especially in eduction with the provision of instructional tools like the tablet of Knowledge which is one of the best technology in the world while advising the present generation of students in the state to take full advantage of it so as to excel in their studies Also speaking, the Akire of ,Ikire, Oba Olatunde Talabi, Olukoyi of Ikoyi ,Oba Yisau Bankale, Alayegun of Odeomu Oba Dr Micheal Oke, and other traditional rulers in the constituency ,lauded the giant strides of the governor and declared their support for the second term ambition of the governor But like the proverbial Oliver Twist, the Olukoyi of Ikoyi, Oba Yisawe Otunla called for constant supply of water to places like Ikoyi, Apomu and Ikire saying provision of potable water to these areas is essential. The monarch also called for construction of ambulance spots under the O-AMBULANCE scheme in some local governmen In his welcome remarks, the Commissioner for Information and strategy, Mr Sunday Akere commended the people of the Federal Constituency for trooping out en mass for the 7th Edition of the public interactive programme, Gbangbadekun He said the programme has further strengthened the efficiency of the government in understanding the plight of the people in the nooks and crannies of the state. Akere urged the people to continue supporting the governor in his efforts to place the state in global map through innovations and infrastructural development. The event has in attendance the First Lady ,Alhaja Sherifat Argbesola, the Deputy Governor, Otunba Grace Laoye Tomori,the Speaker State Assembly, Hon Najeem Salaam, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Akintunde Adegboye, APC state Interim Chairman, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi, members of the state Executive Council, the Executive Secretaries in the three local governments, market women among others.
