Penn State Universitys Head Football Coach James Franklin selects Bob Shoop to be Defensive Coordinator / Safeties Coach: A Yale graduate and Oakmont, Pa. native, Shoop made a variety of FCS stops before joining the Vanderbilt staff as its defensive coordinator in 2011 after four years in the same position at William & Mary. Vanderbilts defense ranked 23rd in the nation in 2013, surrendering 355.9 yards per game, and while its unclear if Shoop would entertain leaving the south, most of his coaching background comes in the northeast.
