GO, Vermont, Go! Go after Single Payer n the wake of the election the media has been quick to say Single Payer is dead. We are writing to say Single Payer is very much alive! We have known all along that organizing support behind guaranteed health care for every Vermont resident, financed fairly and publicly, would be difficult, but we are up for the task and hope you are too. Heres what we know: Governor Shumlin is solidly behind Single Payer. He has clearly articulated his conviction and continues to point out the system we have is broken and bankrupting the state and individuals. Single Payer is the only way to include everyone and control costs. Vermonters are struggling with the cost of property taxes and education. Single Payer is a big piece of property tax reform and controlling the cost of education. A single payer system will take the burden of health care off our local municipalities and help to control costs. How you can help! Please connect with your elected officials. You can send them a note, give them a call, or find them at a public event. Congratulate them on their election and let them know you want them to move the financing package for Single Payer forward in January. Talk to your friends, family and neighbors. Tell them Single Payer is the only way to control costs. Explain to them that Single Payer is not the Exchange. Let them know you are a resource for more information about a Single Payer system. (There is a lot of information on our website and you can always email us if you have questions or need additional information.) We will be sending out more specific information, including ways you can help ensure we move away from private insurance to a system that is fair and includes everyone. Thank you in advance for taking on this historic journey with us. Deb Richter, Ellen Oxfeld, Ethan Parke, Ann Raynolds, and Marj Power
